Our Clinical Philosophy
Most gut care asks one question: what diagnosis fits these symptoms? We ask a different one: why are these symptoms happening?
Chronic gut symptoms have drivers. Microbial imbalances. Impaired digestion. Barrier dysfunction. Nervous system dysregulation. None of those show up in a standard visit, and none of them resolve with a symptom-management approach. Finding them requires better data.
The cornerstone: gut microbiome and stool chemistry testing
The core of our model is advanced gut microbiome and stool chemistry testing. These tests give us a meaningful picture of what's actually happening in your gut: the specific bacterial imbalances, pathogens, digestive markers, and inflammatory signals that standard labs don't capture.
We combine that data with a detailed symptom history, a comprehensive health review, and consideration of lifestyle and environmental factors. Your clinician synthesizes all of it, with support from Clarity's internal AI tools, to build a care plan grounded in your specific biology rather than a generic protocol.

Our protocols follow the 5R model, a methodology used in functional medicine for decades. The 5 Rs are Remove, Replace, Repopulate, Repair, and Rebalance. Most members move through multiple phases at once, depending on what their test results and symptoms reveal.
Remove. We identify and reduce what's overwhelming your gut: microbial imbalances, bacterial overgrowth, inflammatory triggers, motility dysfunction. Interventions are data-guided and may include targeted herbs or medications when appropriate.
Replace. Many people with chronic gut symptoms have impaired digestive capacity, including low stomach acid, insufficient pancreatic enzymes, or reduced bile production. We restore proper digestion through targeted nutritional and supplemental support.
Repopulate. We use stool testing and clinical context to guide strain-specific probiotic choices, aimed at cultivating a stable, balanced microbial ecosystem.
Repair. When the intestinal barrier is compromised, symptoms often extend beyond digestion into immune activation or systemic inflammation. This phase supports mucosal integrity and reduces inflammatory signaling.
Rebalance. Stress, sleep, movement, and nervous system regulation all influence how your gut functions. We address these factors so improvements hold over time.
What to expect when you start
Getting started with Clarity begins with our 6-week Gut Health Assessment. It includes an at-home gut microbiome and stool chemistry test, two clinician visits, and a personalized Gut Assessment Report with your clinician's root-cause hypothesis and a step-by-step care plan.
For many of our members, this is the first time they've received a clear explanation of why their symptoms are happening. The depth of testing provides insight that reshapes how they think about their health. The assessment process also gives clinicians the space to understand how symptoms are affecting your day-to-day life, and gives you a clear view of the underlying imbalances driving them.

After the assessment, care typically moves into a Reversal Plan: a model built to implement your initial care plan and refine it over time. We think in cycles, each typically lasting 1 to 2 months, consisting of a clinician visit, a new care plan, and clinician-guided adjustments between visits.
As your gut health improves, your care evolves with it. Some members continue with Clarity in a Reversal Plan to address connected health issues. Others move into a lower-intensity Vitality Plan focused on solidifying their progress and ongoing improvement. Either way, the goal stays the same: clinician-led care that addresses the root cause of your symptoms.
